This plugin only supports the built-in WordPress post statuses: publish, pending, draft, auto-draft, future, private, inherit, trash, and any. Here’s the code that validates post statuses.
Since you’re specifying a status outside of this list, it is being stripped from the shortcode attributes, and the results should be the same as if you didn’t include it (ex: [display-posts]).
