Happy new year!

No more lost work for 2024 is my resolution. But I’m on the fence whether we should use plugins like these (Duplicator seems to stand out) https://www.isitwp.com/duplicator-vs-updraftplus-vs-backupbuddy/, or do backups and restores/duplicates with a server adminitrator person, and do it by hand.

On the support forums I read tickets about crashing sites or any of these backup plugins messing sites up. I’ve had my share of crashes because of plugins and big data transfers.

Could someone advise me if there truly are ‘risk-free’ backup plugins, or that backing databases up by hand on server level, will always be preferred?

Thank you for your help.
