Best practice for recreating a WIX website on wordpress and shifting domian etc

[ad_1]

Hey amazing crew,

I have a few WIX website rebuilds I am in the process of working on.
They are complete rebuilds from the ground up on siteground hosting, wordpress, theme etc moving away from WIX (yay).

They have their own domain names etc. I am keen to know what everyone else would do regarding staging or building locally and then then when it comes to turning off the WIX site when they are ready to go live with the new one. Does anyone have any advice on the change over, keeping SEO, not loosing anything and the general workflow you guys would do if it were you. I was possibly thinking of either OllieWP or Blocksy etc and either going local and moving afterwards to siteground… or doing a staging site on Siteground… it doesn’t look like there is much in the way of bringing over data and they don’t have a blog to bring over.

  1. Build local.

    Upload to staging.

    Test it.

    Deploy to production/live.

    Better safe than sorry.
