Big video files for members

[ad_1]

I host fitness videos on my WordPress. They are members only using the memberworks plugin.

I make a new page for each video and put the [memberonly] shortcode at the top of the page. Then I use the media and text block and upload the mp4 via the media library.

The problem is the files are too big. They are normally about an hour and the largest file I can upload to my WordPress is 512mb so I need to reduce the quality by quite a bit.

What solutions do I have to have better quality videos but still keep them only for members?

I know I can probably use a hosting site but then non-members would be able to access them.

  1. Why not just use platforms like Vimeo to upload the files and embed the videos on your website?
Directly uploading the video to wordpress will slow down the page.

  2. Don’t host large video files on your web server, it’ll chew up your bandwidth – use a dedicated media server eg S3, BunnyCDN Video, Vimeo, etc.
