A local charity that I volunteer for is throwing together a WordPress website to help get their name out there, etc. However, they want to display a leaderboard for those who have individually raised the most amount of money. I being the only person with a technical background (but not in web development) was tasked with this.
I could build the backend of a leaderboard in no time pulling from the various data sources necessary, however I have absolutely 0 frontend skills.
I see there’s a pretty vibrant development community for WordPress and I can see that there are a few leaderboard plugins available. Would it be better to use one of these rather than reinventing the wheel? I don’t know how their data source hookup works, and I don’t have access to the charity’s WordPress account to trial it myself or I would just start rifling through them.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I just learn the front end portion and build it custom or just grab a plugin?
