Can all this be done in WordPress?

[ad_1]

Hi, I’m redesigning a club website, and I’m looking at moving from a custom built, outdated website to something more user friendly and as OOB as possible.

Requirements:

Member management and sign up, to be approved by admins.

Member restricted pages.

Member to member sales/trading (not public).

Events calendar for club (managed by admin), and separate for members to add events to.

Members forum.

Does all this sound plausible with WordPress and 3rd party add-ons?

If add-ons care required, do you have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

  1. This can all definitely be done in WordPress. How? Not exactly sure but yes 100% possible in WordPress hopefully someone more knowledgeable will comment

  2. Checkout bbpress for forums, and Buddypress for member profiles and messaging.

Restricted content = Restrict Content Pro

Just search for plugins fro the other functionality, but yeah it can be done.

  3. This can definitely be done with WordPress! I’ve done it for clients multiple times.

The two main plugins you’ll need are

    * Membership — I recommend MemberPress or Paid Membership Pro though there are others.
    * Events Calendar — I’ve used the The Events Calendar plugin for simple events (no signups, no paid tickets) and the slightly more old-school but self-contained and generally more customizable Events Manager Pro when registration and tickets are required.

Both The Events Calendar have ways to handle user-submitted events but Events Manager Pro is a more all-in-one solution.

I’ve used this combination for several self-help coaches, several after-school/summer-camp sites, an online-course site, a gardening club, and a service that offered members-only access to industry-analysis reports and international conferences.

  4. That can be done in lots of systems. If you were willing to spend a lot of time to learn Drupal, members would be Drupal users in a ‘member’ role. They could wait for approval by an admin and when approved could be put in that role (using the Rules module). You could have a ‘Members-only page’ content type and restrict that to members. There are ways to contact other users and there’s a calendar module.

I don’t know exactly how you’d do it in WP, but you’d probably end up having to buy a plugin or three.

  5. Yes this exactly can be done in WordPress, i Am unable to recall the exact name of plugin but it was something Ultimate members maybe.

You can google it and go for wpbegginer blog, they had it there.

  6. Perhaps, you might want to stick with another custom build with million of UI made ready to build it fast? If you don’t mind exploring [Astro.build]) which you can easily reuse your UI components to save you time and avoid revamp your website in the future which is time consuming.

Your requirements is quite simple but maintaining WordPress is good conditions might be a challenging if you don’t have the time, have you though, what happen if the entire site down, how to fix malwares, how to fix error due to buggy plugins? Your user will be frustrating when they can’t access the site.

So are your team or you able to handle it? That’s including tuning performance, harden security, etc. I seen all that, it’s tedious to rebuild entire site in the future.

  7. Any of the popular membership plugin meet those requirements, I think ultimate has a social media add on (instead of a forum more like a Facebook), may be worth looking at.

I’m curious about the member to member sale, I guess u want something simple and no something super complicated like a multivendor plugin
