Can wordpress help with this?

[ad_1]

Our current site (php, larval, +++) is custom built and maintenance costs are high. We are considering moving to wordpress.

We have about 150,000 customers, 2000 logins a day to watch workout classes they have purchased. This is an older demo so we do no passwords to reduce CS time. Many have slow internet / browsers so it needs to be quick and play ob most devices (even if old).

Any good examples of similar sites / tools used for wordpress?

One other big hurdle, we have 5 sites total (different niches) so if there is a way we could clone or use base code to operate / upgrade all at once that would be great. And make rolling out the next ones easier too!

Any help is appreciated. Happy to pay for anyones time if they want to dig in!

  1. TBH, I’d probably stick with Laravel.

Why are the maintenance costs high?

How are you hosting the videos?

“This is an older demo” – what is “this”?

  2. We’ve got e-commerce and membership sites in that size range, so yes, it’s possible.

You can use multisite to help manage 5 sites.

Storing the videos on AWS is the way to go, but Vimeo is also a good option. I don’t know what pricing would look like for Vimeo, but I’m sure it would be more than AWS.

We don’t have any passwordless sites, but a quick search gives several WordPress solutions that would fit the bill. So even that part shouldn’t be a big problem.

The real question is, how do you bill customers? Do they sign up for a subscription that automatically bills them? How do you manage access? How many new transactions happen every month?

You’d need to incorporate a membership system. In my experience, WordPress membership plugins are fairly complex because pretty much all of them stack on Woocommerce. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it does make configuration and maintenance more complicated than just pushing the button.

Last, there are tons of WordPress devs. You have to dig a little to find good ones, but there are plenty out there. If the site is built right, it wouldn’t be too difficult to maintain and support.
