Change WordPress Database

I am currently using this WordPress AMI on AWS

It appears as if this AMI includes databases that on on the server itself.

My question is, how do I use a remote database instead of the local databases it provides?

I know it has something to do with the wp-config.php file, but I don’t know the exact process.

Can someone exlpain how to change my WordPress databases to a remote one? Thanks
