Charged 35 a month for business plan

[ad_1]

This lady hired me to create a site for a small business. I made it but I’m being charged 35 bucks a month for the business plan. I told her the charges and she said normally they don’t have to pay monthly for WordPress sites. Is she wrong?

She says she’s never had to pay monthly for WordPress and the client won’t want to pay that.

Does everybody need to pay monthly?

  1. wordpress.com > paid

    wordpress.org > free

The only things you should be paying for is the hosting and domain.

  2. Tell your ‘client’ that the monthly charge is because it’s on the WordPress system, which is payable, and not [wordpress.org]) which is the free self hosted version.
She will need to open up a hosting account, and pay, and you will move it to there. Once installed she will only need to pay the yearly hosting fees.

    Two things here:
1, You made a mistake and went with [wp.com]) – that’s why you are having to pay the monthly fee.

2, Tell the client that they need to sort the hosting account – it should be in their name and not yours so they have full control. Once they have done that, move the site over.

It’s a newbie mistake, no harm done and can be fixed but, if the client refuses to sort out a hosting account, in their name, with their money, then walk away and just stop paying the £35 fee.

And make sure she doesn’t got for a cheap host like godaddy – more pain than they are worth.
