Contact Form 7 – CleanTalk worked for a week, now a new torrent of the same spam

[ad_1]

Does CleanTalk have some features I'm missing that would let me train the filter? I've been trying to eliminate spam from a very simple site I made last year, but nothing works. Or it works for one week then the spam starts pouring in again. I'm about to throw in the towel and tell my client they'll need to pay for an anti-spam service. I have been trying various solutions for a year and none of them stop the constant spam.

  1. First, contact Cleantalk support and ask what’s going on.

Secondly, get any other contact form. Fluent’s free version will give you alot more control and should work better with Cleantalk.

CF7 isn’t the best option. Even though many people do use it and it was one of the best options years ago

  2. Avoid cleantalk for cf7, use wp armour. It is lighter and faster (do a comparison at wphive) and block all spam.

I’ve been using wp armour for all my client’s sites, even better than google recaptcha.

But do note that wp armour free version may not support all forms. But I know it supports cf7 and fluent form – I use these two most of the time.

  3. Add Turnstile to your form. If you still get spam, install OOPSpam as well. Turnstile + OOPSpam should stop it.

Also, if you use Cloudflare, block some countries from accessing your site. In OOPSpam you can also allow submissions by country and language.

Either way, you should pass the cost on to your clients. P.S. Turnstile and Cloudflare are free.

  4. have you tried splorp’s comment blacklist? you add the keywords to the disallowed keys list in wordpress, and it works with the comment form as well as most popular form plugins (including cf7). another option is to add cloudflare turnstile to the contact form – the simple turnstile plugin works with most form plugins (including cf7). these two combined should stop most of the spam.

if something gets through, you can always submit samples to splorp’s github repo and he will add them to his list within days.
