critical error on wp-admin, can’t log in to ftp

[ad_1]

edit: name.com support got me working again, lesson learned

i’ve searched this forum and elsewhere for help with this, but apparently i really screwed something up and haven’t had any luck troubleshooting or diagnosing with anything i’ve read.

I installed a theme from the wordpress editor and as soon as i hit activate my wp-admin goes to the critical error page. on top of that, i am a n00b to wordpress and a novice at web development and am very much stumbling through the learning process currently which has really bit me in the butt with this.

the theme in question is an old unsupported theme known as y2k. very fitting that it broke my account. major bungle from me on risking that one.

i got my domain name from name.com and got their wordpress hosting bundle with it, which complicates my troubleshooting even more.

i’ve tried accessing my server via ftp (filezilla) but my wordpress credentials AND name.com credentials don’t work. i get this error:
Response: 530 Login authentication failed
Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server

after trying a few times to make sure i’m not typo’ing, i get this error:
Response: Your connection to this server has been blocked. Please contact [email protected] for further information. Your blocked IP address is [my ip address] This server’s hostname is hs38.name.tools

so that confuses me a lot. name.com is my support line for wordpress hosting??? name.com provides me with my wordpress details, in my product management page, but this error has name.tools in the hostname response?

furthermore, if i log in to wordpress.com manually without going through the name.com management link, i log in successfully but it says i have no website or domain on wordpress.

i cannot figure out how to get access to the server with ssh. n00b status.

i do not have phpmyadmin on my server. i didn’t even know what that was til this happened. n00b status.

i have put in a support ticket with name.com

i have no idea what else to do or even what is going on. my wordpress.com dashboard is completely inaccessible and i have no idea who is actually my support line for this.
