Damaged installation, now no longer responsive

[ad_1]

Hi all,

I’ve got a website running 5.9 that I am self-hosting using the official Docker image that has been limping along over the past month or so. Note that it’s a private website that requires an account to access.

I’ve got a 3-node MariaDB cluster that uses iSCSI for datadir. One day, one of the iSCSI mounts was remounted readonly, causing the site to behave erratically. Once I remounted it rw, I ended up with some corruption that seemed to necessitate reinstalling all my WordPress plugins, which I did using the Force Reinstall plugin. Ever since, the website has been functional and it semes all data is intact but performance has been less than stellar.

Today, the site is not loading at all. Fortunately, I still have access to /wp-admin/ on one machine because the cookie is still valid, but /login/ doesn’t load so my days there are numbered.

Let me further explain my architecture. I use Docker to host a number of additional, unrelated apps on this small cluster, which are all served via an HAProxy service. It seems very unlikely that HAProxy is interfering with WordPress’s performance, but I won’t rule it out completely. I am also using ProxySQL to implement high availability for the MariaDB cluster, which also doesn’t seem to be causing any issues.

/var/www/html, /var/www/html/wp-content, and /usr/local/etc/php/conf.d are shared among the WordPress Docker containers via gluster. I wouldn’t expect that it would be the cause of any performance issues, either, since most of the access there is (presumably) in the form of reads.

I do have one particular paid plugin that I need to support, which may or may not be compatible with 6.2.2. But before I got the chance to further investigate whether it is or not, the site went offline.

First things first, I would greatly appreciate some assistance getting my pages to load once again. Once they are functional again, addressing the performance issues is secondary.

The first step I am going to take, since I just discovered that I have access to /wp-admin/, will be to check compatibility of all my plugins, take a snapshot of the current state, and attempt a full system upgrade.

I’m not opposed to performing a clean reinstall but should I go that route, I will need assistance with that as well.
