DMARC best practices for WordPress email notifications

[ad_1]

Anticipating Google’s rollout of DMARC requirements for Gmail, I’ve been trying to configure my domains correctly. I have 5-10 low-traffic websites (hosted on SiteGround) and use Office365 for email. Looking at my DMARC rua reports, it looks like most of the offending emails are sent from WP. SiteGround [recommends sending email via SMTP]) instead of PHPMail, but I have a few questions:

* Is it a bad idea to use my primary email address as the sender for WP notifications? Or should I create another address for this purpose?
* If I use SMTP to send email through Office365, do I need to add my web server’s IP address to the SPF record?

Anything else I might be missing here? Thanks!
