Editing and adding data through: “edit page” vs custom template and “edit site”

[ad_1]

Hey, I have one question regarding WordPress. To make it as short as possible, I edit my website pages through custom templates and “edit site”. Firstly I “draft a new page”, publish it, then I always “add a custom template” – after that, it lets me choose “pages”, then lets me pick url to the page I want to apply it to, and what to base the template on, I click on visually the default template of my theme (the only option it gives me lol). After that, I can edit the page and add content/text all in the “edit site”, which is visually and mechanically way easier than to put it through and edit it in “edit page” for me – you see the results instantly, you dont need to go back and forth between edit page and edit site, updated site etc. etc. **So, my question is, how stupid is that? Possible drawbacks?** As of right now, from a dumb beginner standpoint, I dont really see any drawbacks, since page speed as of right now still seems good, but I imagine that could change with more data (I am halfway through adding all the content to the page I want). Im a 2 months in beginner, eager to learn and learning but still dumb so Id love your guy’s opinions.
