The excerpt does not have any formatting. I understand this is by design. But this makes excerpts look ungainly. I am using the blocksit theme. I do not mind editing any php to achieve retention of html formatting for excerpts.
I have tried Advanced excerpt plugin to no avail. I have searched this forum and google and got some suggestions to edit certain php files. But that did not work. I do not mind editing any file as long as it achieves the result.

What are you wanting to do exactly? Styling is done with CSS.
