GenerateBlocks Pro or Bricks ? Criteria to see which fits best to what I design

[ad_1]

Hi all,

Sorry I ended with more questions than I thought. I would appreciate detailed answers but shorter, more expert/specialized ones are very appreciated too 🙂

**Who am I ?**
Ok, I come from Elementor Pro + Crocoblock suite and designed multiple websites (including e-commerces) before. I want to go freelance now and Elementor is too slow. I plan on learning how to code a bit more to fix and adjust a little bit more my designs but I don’t really want to look too much into it (at least for now).
I intend to design sites for small companies in my city first then medium-sized to almost-large-sized companies once I’m set up. It could very well be e-commerce and require very specific functionalities depending on projects.

**GenerateBlocks Pro or Bricks ?**
I’ve read a LOT on this /r and internet to know about the different Page/Site/Block Builders and I think I’ve settled upon GenerateBlocks Pro and Bricks.
So, please do not spam builders names if it’s not absolutely relevant :p (except maybe Breakdance, see at the end)

**What are the criteria ?**
I gathered some infos…

**- Price :** Both are affordable. GB isn’t expensive and Bricks has a lifetime plan.

**- UX/UI :** Both are nice. GB feels simple and direct. Bricks more like Elementor (which gets me a bit worried for bloating).

…but some questions remain. If something is impossible by default, please tell how it can be done 🙂

**- Speed/performance :** Which is the fastest ? I suspect Bricks is heavier but by how much ? Is it easily optimizable ?

**- Efficiency :** How quickly can I get a first draft/wireframe I can show my client ?

**- Complex designs :** Can I do every thing I used to do with the Crocoblock suite (advanced filters, mega-menus, appointments, some visual effects, etc. : [https://crocoblock.com/plugins/](https://crocoblock.com/plugins/) ) ? Can I do a template for a loop of articles/products ?
Is it natively or with add-ons ? Which ones ?
I know Crocoblock integrates with Bricks but : is it partially or fully ?

**- Forms management :** Is it simple and/or built in ? What is the best integration for each ?

**- Less “cody” :** I know, I know, “just learn how to code”, but it will take time as I have already a lot to do with the launch of a business…
I’ve heard Bricks needs more code but looking at it, I would have said the opposite…
IF I do get into coding, which one is the most versatile/customizable ?

**- Templates library :** Which has the biggest and/or best templates to design drafts quickly ?

**- Support :** Best are most available support ? And community if I need help to design ?
***Bonus :*** How is Breakdance, it was a solid candidate and I can’t remember why I got him off of my list right now :p

Thx a lot 😉

  1. Bricks is a more holistic approach. It delivers semantically correct, clean code. You can build a LOT with Bricks. GB is a little more lightweight, but that comes at a price. If you want to build fancier things, you will face limitations again and again. The grid element in GB is somewhat crude, compared to the possibilities in Bricks.

GB is probably more robust, but it is mainly because it does much less than Bricks.

Bricks is a solid platform, taking into account the possibilities, it is reasonably lightweight, though not as lightweight as GB, which is a only collection of a couple blocks. Bricks on the other hand, is a complete web development environment. You can test it yourself on their site.
