How to change sitemap.xml | WordPress.org

[ad_1]

Hello @eheijns

Thanks for reaching out regarding your sitemap. I assume you recently switched your website from the HTTP version to the HTTPS version.

  • Please ensure that your WordPress Address (URL) and the Site Address (URL) are using HTTPS in WordPress > Settings > General > Website URL and Site URL field.
  • Clear the cache from your plugin, theme, server, or CDN such as Cloudflare to resolve the issue. If you are not sure how to clear your server caching, please speak with your host provider.
  • Disable the XML Sitemaps feature and Save Changes. Then, enable the XML Sitemaps feature and Save Changes in WordPress > Yoast SEO > Settings > General > Site Features > XML Sitemaps.
  • Claim and verify your HTTPS site property in Google. This guide explains more: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/176793?hl=en.

Do let us know how that goes.

Hi,

That’s strange. I’m 99% sure the WordPress and Site urIs had the prefix https in Dashboard > Settings > general. And I have an SSL certificate installed. Anyway, I changed the WordPress and Site urls in phpAdmin to https and cleared all cache. That resolved the issue. The sitemap.xml urls now have https as prefix.

Do I still have to disable the XML Sitemaps feature in Yoast and verify my HTTPS site property in Google? I don’t have a store or Merchant account at Google. Why do I need this? Just Google Analytics and Google Search Console would suffice, right?

Hello Evert,

Yes. I am referring to Google Search Console. You don’t have to turn OFF/ON the sitemap feature.

I’m glad the issue is resolved now.
