Is there a way to completely hide the Categories section on posts and post previews?

My client uses WordPress for one of their websites and would like to completely remove categories from their post structure. They simply don’t like the look of how categories are presented under the post title on the blog page. I’ve done some research but all plugins I’ve found to address this are non-functional or outdated.
