Kubio page builder, Astra theme, something else for complete beginner

[ad_1]

I have recently retired young from work as data warehouse developer to help my partner with his conservation/nature preserve work. I am volunteering for him and also working part-time for a non-profit so I don’t starve. My paid gig is for a non-profit that runs a WordPress site and my volunteer role would like to create website for my partner’s non-profit.

WordPress seems like the way to go since I can be useful to both organizations if I manage to learn.

I took a look at Colibri page builder last year for a week before spring invasives and Americorps workers arrived. It was not successful. I didn’t know how to publish the Colibri site or how to make contact forms and email pages function. I’m ready to jump back in and dedicate some time to learning what I need to do and maybe hire freelancer to help me over major hurdles (very small budget since I’d probably be trading grocery money for paying for freelancer groceries).

I found this article

[https://wordpressadvisor.io/guides/how-to-make-a-wordpress-website-the-ultimate-guide-to-plan-and-create-a-fast-website](https://wordpressadvisor.io/guides/how-to-make-a-wordpress-website-the-ultimate-guide-to-plan-and-create-a-fast-website)

suggesting using a lite theme like Astra and Gutenberg builder.

I also tried Kubio AI page generator. Seems easier to use but I know that non-profit board would like to customize website to show a Google Calendar, have a form for visitors to sign up for newsletter (something like Constant Contact), and links to Signup Genius for volunteer workdays. So I can’t tell if Kubio route would lead me to regret since I’ll want these kind of customizations later as my skills increase or I hire a freelancer. This article [https://www.hostgator.com/blog/wordpress-themes-vs-wordpress-page-builders/](https://www.hostgator.com/blog/wordpress-themes-vs-wordpress-page-builders/) definitely made me pause on Kubio.

I don’t mind reading knowledge base and watching You Tube but I think phone/chat support might be a must have for me to make any sort of progress.

I know I need to put in some extra time to make website happen but any advice to get me going in the right direction would be so appreciated!
