Looking for assistance! Having trouble with Search & Filter and custom Archive pages

Hi all!

I’m about 90% of the way through a freelance web design & dev job and am feeling really good about it, with the exception of this one part of the site that remains unfinished. It’s a combo of Search & Filter (the plugin) not working right and my lack of knowledge of how to make a custom Archive page that’s holding me up.

I posted a [stack overflow question]) about the archive page, but I get the feeling that I’m asking for too much in (potentially) too vague of a way for anyone to want to engage with it. The **TL;DR summary is that archive pages are confusing, I need to write a loop for a custom one, but I don’t know where to start.** Existing stack overflow questions haven’t been helpful bc they’re all too specific to each individual’s question to apply it to mine.

The Search & Filter issue is ongoing partly because their support team only seems to be online in the hours that I’m asleep. What’s happening there is that despite choosing the Shortcode results option and [following their instructions]), when I hit search on the form it sends me to an archive page, which is unstyled because of issues outlined the previous paragraph. **It would be wonderful to have someone with search & filter experience look at it to see what’s going wrong.** The search & filter pages are called Research and Resources.
