Migrating to new domain, forwarding best practice

[ad_1]

I am consolidating multiple sites to a new domain and would like to have all traffic to the previous site forward to the new domain including deep links.

What is the best way to do that?

Thank you for the help!

  1. With htaccess 301 redirect rules. If you google something like “htaccess 301 domain change” you’ll find what you’re looking for.

  2. Just set up some 301 redirects in your server config and don’t forget to update those internal links to point to your new domain. Toss a fresh sitemap to the search engines and give everything a quick check. This’ll make sure your visitors don’t get lost in the shuffle.

  3. And some hosting providers such as SITEGROUND, have a redirect section where you can just put the old url and the new url and you will be good to go.
