I know it is business, but I would be lying if I said that I don’t get attached to the website that I design and maintain for a few years. Eventually, some of the small business clients want to take it over 100%. The nominal yearly maintenance charge bothers them, it seems.
Also, sometimes they do a WP course and then want to take over the site. Each time it ends up looking like SHIT! Bling everywhere! It is like handing over your kid to a child abuser.
Imagine a client takes over and then screws up the website. If they come back to you, would you take them back?
