As of November 10th 2022 23:00 EST, we are seeing double charges on nearly 80% of our WooCommerce subscription renewals. We think this is due to a bug in the latest update of the WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway that was updated today to version 7.0.0. No payments prior to today had double charges but since updating they are happening often.
Payment intents are being created twice per the Stripe gateway logs. It appears intermittent, some payments are only tried once but most of are being double charged. We have proactively refunded all our customers but we are being charged double payment fees.
