Hi, I’m looking for some security plugins for my WordPress site. There are people who use scripts to randomly brute-force websites; are there good plugins to help with that? I’m using Jetpack but I’m not sure how it works it doesn’t tell me anything.
And other kinds of hacking too.

Wordfence
For Brute Force attack specifically, moving your login will reduce the number dramatically or completely

Brute force is nothing to be worried of, but software vulnerability is.
if you want something that’s free, then go with wordfence. it deals with attacks and malware. most other free security plugins don’t deal with malware.
if you’re going for paid, then solid security pro + patchstack combination should be good.

All in all – good host, updated WP theme and proven plugins, industry standard password, disable xmlrc and more or less you’re secure
you don’t need anything, keep your passwords secure, don’t be an idiot, and make sure your plugins are up date and well maintained, you’ll be fine, security plugins are a scam
Wordfence should do the job for now
Nothing, but if I need to use something, I use NinjaFirewall, Wordfence just too much bloat for my taste.

If you use Cloudflare, make some firewall rules to “Managed Challenge” any link that contains /wp-login.php or /xmlrpc.php, and it will cut the bot traffic from those hits down by long a shot. You need this stuff to save bandwidth, because it’s non-stop attempts at those by bots.
I use this along with WordFence, which is the best for me over the years.
