Setting up Cloudfare for site hosted with hostgator, question about disabling DNSSEC

[ad_1]

Hey all, I’m hosting a small website on HostGator (domain also purchased through Hostgator). I’m working on setting up Cloudfare as an extra layer of security.

I have verified my DNS records and changed my name servers over, this wasn’t mentioned on the main set up, but in [Cloudfare’s set docs, it mentions disabling DNSSEC at the registrar]). I couldn’t find how to do this in HostGators docs, however, in [cPanel’s docs, it mentions disabling DNSSEC is irreversible,]) I want to make sure this is necessary since the set up didn’t mention it as I worked through it but the guide does. Has anyone had any experience with this?

  1. I’ve never needed to do anything relating to dnssec with any provider. I thought it was always off by default?
