Smart plugin manager and enable auto-updates in WordPress

[ad_1]

We switched our marketing site over to WordPress on WPEngine. We have smart plugin manager enabled. In the actual WordPress admin section is a place to turn automatic updates on and off. Should I leave this off and smart plugin manager handles everything or do I need to turn them on for that to happen?

  1. I always manually update plugins in client sites. If you set it to auto-update and there is a conflict with the updated version of the plugin and your theme, your site can be broken or down for a bit until you or someone else notices. If you manually update plugins one by one, then test the site after each plugin update, you will always know which plugin caused the problem.
