Been going backward and forward with this. I get the impression that when you install a plugin the developers get your email address, which seems like it can cause spam (they mey even sell your email to spammers) so I don't tend to use my main one. On the other hand it is useful to get alerts etc to your main email account. I guess using a secondary email and putting in filters for the alerts is one idea but what if a new alert comes that does not match the filters.
I really cant decide, what do people think?

Nope.
Plugin guidelines are explicit that NO information can be ‘phoned home’ unless and until the end user has agreed.
This includes remote loading of images to track.
If you agree to share, that’s fine.
But if you do not, they should get nothing.
For my clients websites I use a special separate email only for alerts and WP instances information.
Installing and activating a plugin does not automatically share your email with the plugin’s developers. Some plugins may ask you to share an email, but most times it is optional.
If you do share your email address with them and are worried about spam, you could use a secondary email address.
