Trello-type User Meta Field

[ad_1]

Hi everyone! Hope you’re all having an awesome weekend!

Does anyone know the most efficient way to use essentially this library or something similar: https://docs.muuri.dev/examples.html#simple-kanban-with-scrolling-containers (basically a 3-column Trello) where the numbers are custom post types/taxonomies? I want users to be able to sort and rank those values and save their choices for each user in the DB, and then also display the top 3 choices of each user in a user meta field. This all should ideally happen within Memberpress or a similar ecosystem.

I was thinking of adding a custom meta field for getting the cards by rank… Then wp_query? Am I completely off base? I’ve written HTML and CSS with the backboneJS library in the past, but I’ve never worked with dynamic fields in WordPress.

I suppose I need ACF or Metabox or something as well – which would you recommend? Or Pods? I found that Metabox has this: https://docs.metabox.io/creating-new-field-types/ which I’m not sure would be relevant to my use case.

I’ve seen a very similar functionality in Formidable Forms and Gravity Forms surveys (drag to rank questions), but it’s not ideal as the list for my users to rank is very long (also why I want it across 3 columns).

I appreciate any feedback you may have – it’s been a long time since I’ve made anything beyond static sites.
