Hello, I work for a small company that produces bi-weekly reports for 4 cities. We have dozens of clients in each city. Each client pays for a copy of the report for their respective city. Twice a week, I upload 4 PDFs to WordPress. Each client can then sign into their user account and view/download the report for their city. Clients can then distribute this report to their team as needed.
It was recently discovered that some clients are distributing these PDF reports beyond their organization to non-clients.
I am looking for a way to deter users from distributing these reports to people outside their organization, so I’m wondering if there is a plugin that will “stamp” user information (name, email, phone number, etc.) at the bottom of each PDF page before a user downloads it?
I know this isn’t perfect, but stamping personal client information on the PDF might make clients think twice about sharing these reports.
Open to other suggestions as well!

Create a post template which includes the logged in user as a field – so their name is appended to the post, in a sentence like ‘this PDF is property of ‘user company’ and sharing of this document is unlawful’… or similar.
Then use the post to pdf to output it for the client.
Similar ideas might work using Gravity form or Fluent forms – which allow you to make a pdf from a form entry. You can then embed the copyright and username in the pdf.
Or just put ‘Distribution of this document constitutes copyright infringement’, in each footer – it doesn’t have to be personalised.
But bottom line… people will steal / copy if they can…
