I’m a beginner in this field and i’m making a website using WordPress and Elementor since I’m not very familiar with coding in any way. My question is, what do i need to know/learn regarding frontend and backend dev. so my website can run and function properly? Also i want to do maintainance of the website myself. I’m planning on making websites for other people too, and i want to be able to do a decent job and don’t want to screw people over. I like the design aspect in this, however i’m open to learn anything else that i would need.
If you’re using WordPress and Elementor to create your website, you don’t need to know much about front-end or back-end development to *get started*.
However, to maintain and troubleshoot your website, there are a few things you should know:
– Basic understanding of HTML and CSS: While you don’t need to know how to code HTML and CSS to use Elementor, a basic understanding of these languages will help you understand how your website is put together and make small adjustments to your design.
– Understanding of WordPress themes and templates: WordPress uses templates to control the layout and design of your website. Understanding how templates work and how to customize them will help you make changes to your website’s design and layout.
– Basic understanding of the WordPress editor: The WordPress editor allows you to create and edit pages and posts. Knowing how to use it and how to format text, add images, etc. will help you manage your website’s content.
– Familiarity with the WordPress Dashboard: The WordPress Dashboard is where you manage your website, including installing and updating plugins, managing users, and more. Understanding how to navigate the dashboard will help you manage your website and troubleshoot problems.
– Basic understanding of FTP: File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a method of transferring files between your computer and a web server. Understanding how to use FTP will help you move files to and from your website, which can be useful for troubleshooting and backing up your website.
– Familiarity with web hosting: Knowing how to set up and configure a web hosting account is important for launching and maintaining a website. Understanding how to manage your hosting account, including how to change your domain name, DNS settings and more.
Keep in mind, you’ll need to learn as you go, and some things will come with experience.
You can also check the WordPress and Elementor documentation, and take some online course or tutorials to improve your skills.
And importantly, try to practice and experiment with your own website and by doing that you’ll gain more experience and confidence !
