WordPress multisite – subdomain mapping issue | can’t access /wp-admin on my subdomain

[ad_1]

Hi there,

I’m having trouble trying to log into the WP backend on my subdomain. I’m not so experienced with WP in general but I followed a tutorial to setup my multisite. This included changes in the wp-config.php and .htaccess (I used the code snippets provided in my WP-backend for setting up the multisite). If you need those in order to help, please let me know.

So far everything works quite well, I also created a wildcard DNS… actually it was already existent in the settings of my provider [one.com]). Here’s a screenshot of the two wildcard records: [https://pasteboard.co/KH44NW55QDDU.png])

Now the current issue is that I can create as many subdomains as i like, but I can’t reach them. I’ll give you an example.

My domain is “[ascent-ag.de](https://ascent-ag.de)”. The subdomain for my example is [info.ascent-ag.de]). When I try to reach the subdomain frontend, I get this result: [https://pasteboard.co/oChI5fop0G1g.png])

Exactly the same happens, if I try to log into the backend [info.ascent-ag.de/wp-admin]).

I’m pretty sure that I missed out on some DNS records or something like this. I feel like I created the subdomain, but the subdomain doesn’t point to the WP-installation of my domain… So probably I failed with the DNS records, but I have no clue on how to fix this 😅

I also read through many guides and tutorials but most of them are either from some hosting providers and only give information based on their specific tool like kinsta and cpanel, or they are outdated and based on WP 3.X… So right now I’m out of ideas on how to solve my problem. Maybe one of you guys can help me out here. If you need any other information to help me solve this, please let me know. I didn’t want to spam useless information here.
