it’s required as it uses the a new php class introduced in 6.2: WP_HTML_Tag_Processor
The 1.7.3 update includes a bugfix which is incredibly rare to trigger.
So staying on 1.7.2 should be fine.

Thanks so much for the prompt reply and the 1.7.2 link! We’re on WP 6.1.1, so as long as 1.7.2 is compatible, we’ll use this version and hold off for 1.7.3.
