200k Files for 3 Websites?

[ad_1]

Any ideas on how 3 websites could possibly have 200k files? My hosting is saying I am over the limit on my plan now and wants to move me to a more expensive plan. I checked the Cpanel details and I am showing I have around 225k files between the 3 sites I host which are all WordPress.

Any tips on how to cut down on unnecessary or old files? I deleted old themes/plugins but that only got me down by like 20k files.

  1. check for images. Every image you upload will be saved in various sizes depending on theme and plugins.

  2. Probably caching, or images. Have a poke around using the File Manager in cPanel. Places to check: /wp-content/cache, /wp-content/uploads/

  3. What’s your host? I once had a client site where a random cpanel backup setting basically created a db backup setting every hour that created thousands of sql files we didn’t need.
