We were hit with an htaccess attack, which I’ve fully resolved at this point. I’ve removed every last stray htaccess file that didn’t belong, and replaced the one in the root directory with a fresh one from the install files. All is nominally well. All Plugins are disabled because I don’t trust them after the attack… we’re back on the default theme for now for the same reason. Don’t trust our old theme anymore either. Everything is zeroed out and at default. The blog looks right to readers, can be navigated, I can post to it and edit in admin, edit users, moderate comments, etc.

HOWEVER.

When I go to click “Customize” on the themes, or “Add New” on themes, I still encounter the 403 error. Same thing happens with “Tools” in the lefthand menu.

No where else. I double checked the wp-admin directory for any remaining htaccess files that would be denying me access. They aren’t there.

Any idea why these specific pages are 403ing me?
