404 Images after I edit and save a post.

[ad_1]

Hello everyone,

I’ve been having a very strange issue where some images don’t show up after I edit and save a post. Some of the images come back with a 404 status. The performance plugin I use is Perfmatters. To fix the issue I do one of the following options:

1. I cleared the used CSS with Perfmatters, and after that I save the page
2. If the first option doesn’t work, I just save the page a couple of times more, and then it automatically gets fixed.

I do know about the most common solution to fix 404 errors which is: Settings → Permalinks → Save Changes. I have done that, but it hasn’t solved the issue. I guess because if I don’t make any changes and save the posts, the issue doesn’t come up.

I contacted several times my host provider, and they insist that the issue is related with the plugin Perfmatters. So, I deactivated the plugin and the issue is gone. I’ve been also in contact with the developer of the plugin but he says that the plugin doesn’t cause this, I’m still in contact with him but it’s been a couple of weeks and haven’t found a solution yet.

Even though I can fix the issue with the way I described above, this should not be happening. I’m a no coder, but I’ve been using WordPress for years, and it is the first time I see something like this. Unfortunately, I don’t have a page on my website to show the issue live, because even if I left a page without fixing it, the issue sometimes automatically gets fixed anyway.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

  1. What URL is your website calling? Does the file physically exist on your server in that location? Can you share your site URL?
