About homepage Meta Description with WPML

Hi,

I recently started using WPML for my site and noticed that the meta descriptions of homepage for all my languages are the same as the one I wrote in SEO Settings – Homepage Settings – Meta Description.

However, since this is written in English, is it supposed to be used across all languages? If not, how can I edit the homepage meta description since my homepage is a frontpage template that doesn’t seem to have the option to edit SEO?

If I remove what I wrote in Homepage Settings, the plugin doesn’t seem to generate any homepage meta description automatically.

After a bit of research, I noticed this on your site:

Issue #1a: Homepage settings (homepage shows latest posts)

All options set on the global SEO Settings page for the homepage will affect all languages. So, if you put a custom title for the homepage there, all configured languages will have their title changed.

Therefore, we advise against filling in the homepage settings when using a same-site translation plugin. When using WPML or Polylang, we urge you not to set the homepage as a blog. Instead, we recommend setting the homepage as a static page

However, since my theme is using shows latest posts as the frontpage, even though it is a static page, I have no idea how diffcult to convert it into a page or if that is even possible…

Is there any solution to edit meta descritpion in my case or should I just give up?
