ACF or MetaBox Showdown – what are your thoughts?

[ad_1]

Looking for feedback as we’re moving down a one way road with our Advanced Themer/Bricks stack…

We’ve built out numerous templates with Metabox enabled sites/CPT’s and we love how much more efficient it is for blueprint sites and new builds. We just import the MetaBox field groups and CPTs we need and we’re ready to go.

However, as we’re continuing to scale up and add more CPTs/custom fields, I’m having a dilemma of should we be using MetaBox or ACF (since Advanced Themer plugin is already using ACF Pro and to avoid db bloat). Metabox seems to be the best for overall performance but ACF’s functionality, WPengine backed dev support and larger 3rd party community makes for a compelling argument to go back to ACF.

The difficult part is that with over 200+ fields now, there isn’t an ACF supported converter for MetaBox fields (MetaBox has a great ACF extension but not reverse).

Any thoughts on why we should convert back to ACF from MetaBox?
