Admin can’t see pages/posts and editing triggers “Critical Error”

[ad_1]

Been building wordpress sites for a long time, but I’m stumped on this one.

For the past 48 hours, when I’m logged in as admin I can no longer see the front end of the site – it loads a blank, white page. In an incognito browser at the same time, not logged in, everything works great.

I thought this was connected to some plugin update issues – anytime I clicked “update” or even tried to upload a package I would get the “-1” error and get stuck in maintenance mode. I raised the RAM ceiling in wpconfig and I updated a few of the bigger plugins via FTP and then the rest updated normally from the plugins page.

So in the meantime, admin can’t see any pages from the site -they load as blank white pages. I tried going to the page menu and opening one directly to “edit in elementor” and I got the “critical error” message instead. I do use WP Rocket for caching so I dumped my cached files but no luck.

I’m running WP 6.1.1 on PHP 8.1 FastCGI. Theme is Astra 4.0.2 and I’m using elementor (3.11.2 base and 3.11.3 pro).

Any help is greatly appreciated. I’m concerned I’m leaving the level of WP problem that I can resolve myself and that it might be time to hire someone to fix it.
