Hey guys, I hired a wordpress developers to build my site, created a User for them in WordPress with Admin rights. They’re supposed to start working today, but they’re asking for “main hosting admin credentials”, because they need to make changes to the theme.
I don’t know WordPress that well, is it possible that they don’t have access to what they need? I’m very hesitant to give my main credentials, am I paranoid?
Thanks

If code changes are required having access to the host and it’s files are normal. Depending on the host, you maybe abole to create dev account that you can remove when the work is completed.
I assume by “Main Hosting Admin Credentials” they mean the hosting provider of the WordPress installation for example GoDaddy or HostGator?
If that is the case, you can instead set up an FTP to the WordPress installation directory and they can modify, download and upload all the files they need too only to that WordPress installation directory.
If they need your actual wordpress account after you’ve given them an admin account, no, you don’t need too.
