I’m an ex-LAMP dev working on my first WP project in a while. I need some general advice from the WP pros among us.
The client is running Elementor paid with Formidable Forms. He’s taking orders for products from authenticated members of his site. He’s updating prices in the db and taking purchases manually. He wants to display info AND take purchases. He’s in OZ. I need advice…
1. I’ve created a 10 page interface in Figma that the client is happy with. If I use a plugin to export this interface to bootstrap code. How useable will the code be? How good is Figma at doing this? Can I just add media breakpoints to make this code responsive?
2. For my next project, I’d like to add breakpoint variables to Figma pages along with autolayout and constraint functionality for totally responsive webpages. I’ve heard mixed reports about Figma-exported code. Is it even worth my effort to do this? Will the exported frontend code be unusable and/or render poorly?
3. The client uses paid Elementor. I hate this bloatware personally. I try not to use it. My personal feelings aside, how can I graft on an API display-and-purchase web app to an existing Elementor website?
4. If I’m not using Figma bootstrap code to build the frontend, what should I use? Gutenberg vs Custom Code vs WP Classic Editor? What are the advantages vs disadvantages?
5. What’s the story with using payment gateways in OZ? Do they require a large cash bond upfront?
6. Finally, the WP authentication feature is relatively easy to integrate with, correct? I won’t have any Elementor inspired issues here? What should I be aware of in terms of pitfalls for grafting a web app on to an Elementor site?
I’m just looking for advice from the community here, guys. Solicitations aren’t welcome.
Thanks in advance 🙂
EDIT: typo, ‘programmatic api’ doesn’t make sense.
