Advice on how to create a site like Blinkist

Hello guys

So im interested in competing with Blinkist and i want to launch an app and an website that works in the same way that Blinkist does. (For reference see [Blinkist.com](https://Blinkist.com))

So I want to know if its possible to create a wordpress website that is kinda like a library of books and also audio books.

  1. Even though it is a custom app built with Rails and VueJS, it is possible with WordPress. It is just a matter of your skills with WordPress, PHP and JavaScript, or your hiring budget.

  2. Yes it is possible depending entirely on either your skill/ time or your budget.

  3. I’m not familiar with that website, but it looks like you can achieve something similar using custom post types and custom fields (such as ACF). You would need a membership plugin as well if you want to put it behind a paywall.

How you integrate it into a mobile app… that’s out of my know-how.

  4. A company I worked for had a similar product. The tech isn’t the primary problem, rather getting the content is. Look for a sustainable way to get written (read?) summaries of books. Do not expect to find those ready for use. Our way was to have a small team coordinating freelance editors to do that. Website And an app for 2k seems on the low end, although that depends on where you’re from / where you let develop.if you plan that right, it’s doable with WordPress for starting up.

And consider that you’re going against more than 30 million annual revenue and 160 employees (WP about blinkist). Look for a niche. Best of luck.
