I am helping my mom update the website for her nonprofit. Currently her website is built using a plugin called [Intensity]) which uses the standard wordpress editing window with a button that allows you to generate shortcodes provided by intensity. It’s very difficult to use, however, so I’m planning to upgrade her to the Elementor plugin to redesign her site.
My question is – what are best practices around installing a new site-builder plugin and doing a face lift on a currently active website on wordpress? Is there a “safe” way to install the plugin without breaking parts of her site, or is it recommended to build out an entirely new site and then switch the domain once it’s finished?
