Am I the only one who’s been absolutely fine with the “hands off” mod policy?

Title. Still have been able to read and talk about WordPress. There haven't been a ton of posts, a lot of the drama posts have been downvoted and stay out of my feed. And tbh I haven't noticed any spam at all??

Before the mods kinda quit and did a 'strike' or whatever tf there were the exact same amount of posts about the software WordPress and their scores had the exact same scores. Like letting the community moderate what topics they want to be popular VS not seems to have gone just fine.

And taking away the option to vote for the "drama" posts to stay honestly just comes off as childish to me. Give us the option in the poll so it's truly representative of what the community wants LMAO.

  1. I like it… they do not.

The goal was to force a situation people thought was bad so they’d seek an alternative. That’s why the poll for moving forward only has 2 options, neither of which is a light moderation policy like what’s currently in play.

And I’ll note, this tactic is the same abusive maneuver Matt is doing right now where he’ll make a situation worse so that you choose their alternative. It’s all about power and control.

  2. It is much better now. If mods really cared they would take a poll with 3 options:

    1. Ban all WP Drama
    2. Bring back WP Drama megathread
    3. Everything works fine right now. Let’s only block low effort/bad faith, etc posts and not police certain subjects from the subreddit.

Mods do not want to know the answer. They don’t know want to know what people want.

  3. It’s fine. I like that we are able to talk about sub-topics of the present newsworthy situation versus having everything forced into one thread.

But it appears that the mods couldn’t even let it last a day before the “okay, it’s either a megathread or no discussion at all” ultimatum. Chip off the ol’ block…their father must be so proud of them.
