My website has been up and running for awhile without any issues. However, when I tried to look for a new plugin to add to my site, I encoutnered an error that said, “An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration.”
I enabled debugging and received the following information, “PHP Warning: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums. (WordPress could not establish a secure connection to WordPress.org. Please contact your server administrator.) in /var/www/vhosts/perhapstoday.net/httpdocs/wp-admin/includes/plugin-install.php on line 182“
I took a look at line 182 and it had to do with the $ssl variable.
From there, I noticed that I could update to the newest version of WordPress, so I tried to update the version thinking that might be what suddenly brought on this issue. However, I received this error in the debug log, “PHP Warning: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums. (WordPress could not establish a secure connection to WordPress.org. Please contact your server administrator.) in /var/www/vhosts/perhapstoday.net/httpdocs/wp-admin/includes/translation-install.php on line 67“
When I researched this error, it also had to do with the $ssl variable. I checked, and my site’s SSL certificate is still active and good for another 4+ months. I also checked my URLs in Settings -> General and I have the appropriate “https” in place. So, I’m not sure what else to check. Can someone please help me with this?
Thanks so much.
