Any good direction on editing WordPress more in the raw?

[ad_1]

I’ve done lot’s of web work in the past. I’ve never really gotten into wordpress because of editors being both elaborate and constrictive at the same time. I’m all for starting off with a solid template, but I want to work with layout a little more directly. I’ve tried learning in the past, but it always became a time consideration, and I could do what I needed to do faster from scratch then trying to figure out how to work within whatever template editor.

I now have a need for wordpress, but I want more control. Any good tutorial advice to get me there? I’m banging my head again trying to do things from within wordpress. It’s been awhile since I’ve done web work; the last environment i worked with was golang. Though now I need some built in cms features and the ability to move quickly.

Any direction would be appreciated. I’m trying again to find a nice tutorial to manage the template files a little more directly, without sacrificing the benefits of wordpress.
