Anyone use mysqldump to backup their wordpress database?

[ad_1]

I ran into a few old stackexchange posts ([https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/75135/how-to-export-import-wordpress-mysql-database-properly-via-command-line]) about manually backing up a wordpress database using mysqldump and also found [https://adminhacks.com/wordpress-linux-comandline-backup.html]) but these all seem pretty dated. I’m wondering if anyone has experience with this as a backup/migration tool.

I have a pretty broken WordPress site I’d like to migrate to a new WP installation, but the backup plugins I’ve tried are running into problems. It seems easier to just do it via the command line, maybe…

  1. Yes, it’s totally fine to use that method. A SQL file is the same no matter how you export it.
