Are Non-Developer WordPress related jobs as rare as they seem?

[ad_1]

I’ve been with a Company for 2 years where I Create an manage WordPress websites for clients. While I’m no developer, my html & css are good, my PHP is acceptable for editing (not full theme creation though) and I’m a wizard with a couple of the biggest WP builders. My skills also reach out of web into multiple CRMs, basic photoshop/illustrator, some Excel/sheet, Zapier, Blogging & more small stuff like that.

My questions is, while there are a seemingly infinite number of high paying jobs for WP Devs or Full Stack Devs, besides my freelancing, I cant find a single lower paying job that I qualify for. I find this odd as I am such a huge asset at my current company & by far the most capable “Dev” having created sites with User accounts and front end event submissions, blogs, ecommerce & more; always faster, lighter & safer than my team could create.

I have this weird feeling I may get a little attacked or misunderstood for this post.. I want to reiterate that I’m just curious if anyone else in this community who, like me, is a highly skilled WordPress Designer/User (non dev) but has struggled to find a job with this unique skillset. I’m not saying I deserve a big dev salary & I agree with the inevitable comments that I should just learn the languages & become a legit WP/PHP dev.

  1. Look for jobs as a website administrator, digital strategist, digital/web producer, or digital/web project manager. Your more technical than average background would make you an excellent candidate. Don’t limit yourself to just “WordPress” in your job searches. I am like you and have been being doing it for almost 15 years.

Also r/prowordpress is probably a better place for you.

  2. That’s me too – but I work in Digital Marketing so it’s seen as a massive bonus to my role skillet rather than a requirement. I save my company thousands in Web costs and server management.

  3. Potentially technical project manager, someone who understands WordPress but their real strength is organizing developers, keeping track of tasks and timelines and being able to speak to clients about what’s possible to build.

These can be pretty high paying jobs for dev agencies and your WP experience will help you communicate better.
