Are themes always a bad idea?

[ad_1]

Themes deserve their reputation for many valid reasons. Generally, they are not the highest quality, line per line of code, as an entirely made-from-scratch made-for-purpose site.

But do they ever have their place? If you are running a major corporation, no doubt it’s a bad plan to rely on a themeforest theme.

But what if you’re a brick and mortar small business wanting a site? Or a smaller online business? And you feel ok with the demo layout?

Should these individuals seek elementor as a better, less-bloated solution if they cannot code?

Or would simply creating a site, traditionally (without a builder), by themselves or done by a professional, be the only true way to create something of quality?

  1. WordPress sites require a theme to function.

Are you actually asking about “off the shelf” vs “custom”. Both have their place. Off the shelf make sense for the majority of sites, custom costs a lot extra. That’s all there is to it. Not sure what discussion/comments you’re expecting – bit of an odd question.

  2. If you’re new to WordPress then go for Themes.
And you’re creating your own brand or brand reputation. Then create a manual theme. I suggest my clients not to go for themes.

Themes have pre-loaded functions which you may not require.
But when you go for site optimisation and SEO stuff, then you find lots of unused JS & CSS.

So, do not go for themes.
