  1. > is the better practice to start a site from scratch?

There’s no such thing as that. It depends on the goals and requirements u have for your website/business

Personally found those templates really useful since I didn’t have enough coding experience to start from scratch. They’re fully customizable as well

Those starter templates are recommended but it’s up to you whether you want to use it or not

  2. No Astra is a Theme.
The Pro version, comes with over 250 Pre Made Templates that YOU SHOULD LEVERAGE.
The 130 dollars for the Pro theme, is well worth it, when you never have to start from scratch and it saves you countless hours.
You then can always modify it as you see fit.
You can add sections, you can remove sections. If you use it with Elementor, it also has tons of pre made sections that you can leverage as well.

  3. Prebuilt themes and templates offer a high degree of flexibility, allowing you to customize them to your liking.

It sounds like you’re stepping into the world of web design. I recommend starting with a prebuilt theme and then making it your own. Your modifications will give your work a unique touch, reflecting your individuality.

Think about an interior designer who creates a look for a room. They use wallpaper and furniture made by external companies, but the room’s overall look is still credited to them.

Starting from scratch will take you longer, and from my experience, people who aren’t designers or are starting in web design/dev rarely create something that looks better than the starter themes and templates that theme companies have spent hundreds of hours working on.

  4. Astra can shapeshift a lot. I use this theme and have received positive feedback about my website’s unique look although I will identify Astra characteristics on other websites all day (love the online game of, omg is this Astra??) so to me it’s [my own website] still very stock.

Absolutely there should be more “from scratch” websites. Web 2.0, babyyy.

Readers read in a zig zag pattern, top to bottom, large to small. The largest headings can get away with more styling while you’ll want to stick to an easily/legible post and meta font style.

Designing is very much a backwards approach. What kind of website do you want to be greeted by? If it’s slowly loading on dial-up, would you wait for this website to load the rest of its 82% (is it captivating?) Color psychology isn’t perfect, but attention to matching small details matters.

Honestly, if your website is just title and posts, what would make it unique? I’ve seen websites that are the barest of bones but have two artsy and transparent floating .PNGS or .GIFS and that’s what “dressed up” the site. Good luck!
