@bpence Thank you for your patience with us. We agree that the process wasn’t the smoothest and there was some unintended fallout. Even after all of the testing.
This is for a number of reasons though:
Firstly, We refactored almost the entirety of the plugin and the extensions. Our goal is to grow far beyond the old code which was plagued with overcomplexity. Unfortunately, we had to make some decisions we knew would cause inconvenience. The paid extensions had to be deactivated or the free version due to incompatibility as the new framework would have caused an extensive amount of errors.
Secondly, We spent a lot of time working through ways to make this happen but ultimately because we refactored the paid extensions.
Thirdly, As you may already know, a major part of this overhaul was making everything much more secure including encryption of Access Tokens and Feed Data which is now required of us by most of the social networks.
Fourth, We actually spent a lot of time working on and trying to figure out ways to make the process easier. A new shortcode had to be created as it needs to use the information from the Feed Edit page that was created. As before the shortcode options were never saved and so if changes needed to be made you had to edit the shortcode manually or regenerate the shortcode by selecting all of the old options. With this update, we are past that though thankfully.
Lastly, If you would like to revert you can still get the old version from
You will see the “Please select a specific version to download.”
I do want to note that we’ve sent out over 4,000 emails multiple times through the last 2 years to everyone who has purchased our paid extensions including a beta testing one. We also have had messages on our sites that this was happening coming for quite some time and even put messages in the readme changelogs and notices on the dashboard this was coming.
Even with all of that being said though, We do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you and possibly others. Our intention is never to cause frustration and make things as simple as possible.
We are happy to assist you to help get the plugin working. If you need any more help please let us know!
Thanks again for your patience,
The SlickRemix Team
